As a self-funded facility, Directed by Dr. L. Monika Moskal, RSGAL provides geospatial and remote sensing services and solutions to both the public and private sector on a contract basis.

The mission of the Remote Sensing & Geospatial Analysis Laboratory (RSGAL) is to provide a stimulating environment & exceptional resources for graduate & undergraduate students which facilitate quality research & scientific training in the fields of remote sensing, geospatial sciences, spatial analysis, landscape ecology & geovisualization. RSGAL's scientific goal is to develop innovative methodological approaches to understand the spatio-temporal structure & dynamics of landscapes, specifically that of forested environments, using remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), spatial statistics, data fusion & modeling. The work is based on the theoretical foundations of geospatial science & complex system theory.
