Missouri
Leaf Arrangement and Shape:
Opposite with simple, oval to egg-shaped leaves
Fruit Type:
Drupe (seed covered by fleshy pulp)
Maximum Height:
40 feet

Missouri's state tree with either white or pink flowers. The fruit is red and the preferred food of wild turkey. The dried root was used by Native Americans to treat malaria. Dogwood has hard, tough, and splinter-free wood.
