There are many variations and hybrids which makes identifying troublesome. The dense branching and thorns makes them a favorite nesting site for birds. Fruit and flowers have been confirmed to reduces heart hypertension. It dilates coronary vessels, reduce blood pressure and is a mild heart tonic. Hawthorn products are very popular in Europe and China.
