Leaf Arrangement and Shape:
Alternate with simple, 7 to 11 lobed leaves
Fruit Type:
Nut (acorn, about 1 inch long)
Maximum Height:
100 feet

Nuts are shiny and reddish-brown and the wood is also reddish-brown. Leaves have bristles and turn red or crimson in fall. It is a fast growing and long lived tree that is also popular for cultivation because of its relatively smooth, striped bark.
